Election to the VBC Hall of Fame will be by the VBC Hall of Fame Committee.
Electors: The VBC Commissioner will appoint at least 7 past or current players to the Committee and will also name a Chairman.
The Committee will hold elections once-a-year in the 1st quarter of that year.
Eligible Candidates:
A baseball player, manager, commissioner, or umpire must have been active in the VBC for at least 5 years.
Active players are eligible for election.
Method of Election:
Chairman will prepare a list of nominees for election.
Candidates can be nominated by the Hall of Fame Committee, VBC Board of Directors, and Managers. This nomination should also include a resume with stats.
Electors will vote “Yes” or “No” on each nominee.
A nominee must receive at least 70% “Yes” votes to be elected, with at least 7 votes being cast. If a nominee receives 1 vote or less, they will not be automatically nominated the next year.
Voting: Voting shall be based upon the person’s record, playing ability, integrity, sportsmanship, character, and contribution to the league or team(s) on which the player played.
Automatic Elections: If a nominee has 40 or more wins as a pitcher, 300 hits, or 250 RBI’s in his career, the nominee is automatically inducted into the Hall of Fame, subject to a vote regarding his integrity, sportsmanship and character.
Amendments: The VBC Hall of Fame Committee reserves the right to revoke, alter, or amend these rules at any time.
